On playing
the Phantom... "I think this role is the closest I'll ever come to knowing what someone like Michael Jordan feels like - what a sports figure experiences - when you give everything you have and you just blast right into it and give it ALL. At the end, the appreciation from the audience is just overwhelming - it's a kick! |

| On what inspires Ron in
writing his music... "I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." |

FOX 30 in Chicago Interviews RonSummer, 1998 |
| Ron's insights into the
Phantom... "The best part for me is the challenge of a great role, and the Phantom is one of the best because he's a man of many extremes. He's a maniacal villain, and at the same time he's a sensual lover. He is a caged animal and a child. There are so many qualities to this man who is desperately in love with Christine Daae." |
|
|
Ron's focus on the acting
challenges in Phantom... "With any of Andrew Lloyd Webber's roles, I try to put the singing aside for a while and see what we are trying to send people out with. You can always spend a lot of money and drop a chandelier on people, but if you can break their hearts, then you've got something."** |
